My wife bought me an oak tall clock in 2012. It worked for a year. for 300-400.00 the clock is beautiful, but the movement is trash.

These clocks can be fitted with a Hermle grandmother chain driven movement.

A german made quality clock mechanism. You have to construct a mounting board and sound board for the chime rods but anyone who is 'handy' with home projects can do it.

This gives you a quality weight driven clock in a beautiful cabinet for half the price of a Howard Miller.

It’s also an interesting, fun project especially if you own an Edward Meyer clock that’s inoperative.
