My then recently aquired Colonial Grandfather Clock with a key wound chimes and strike Enfield Brass Movement had been in storage for a long time. It would run and stop. Being familiar somewhat with such movements, I oiled the movement and remained baffled for weeks searching for the intermittent problem. The hood is easily removed exposing the movement. The problem was solved when a large clump of hair like lint was found clinging in the striking drive train.
I have assembled several Emperor Clock Co. kits. I have one assembled in Dec. 1972. The others came later on and are now in possesion of son and daughter. Emperor Clock Co. of Fairhope, Alabama is now defunct as such and had been assumed by a concern in Pensylvania on my last inquiry.
