What is this disc on my Trend grandfather clock

We have just purchased a Trend grandfather clock. Above the dial is a disc that has pictures of a ship, 2 suns or moon, and a windmill.

I can rotate it manually.
Is this supposed to rotate automatically and what do the pictures mean?

There is a presentation tag dated 1967
