Full Body Colonial Mfg Co.(model 1698)

Hi,

I’m in love with this grandfather clock.

But the only clue I found about it is a paper label by the door, inside, that says: Colonial Mfg. Co, Zeeland Mi. Model: 1698, Movement: 44, Dial: DC.

On the back, inside in the machine says: Germany, Janch PL 96cm.

I re-set the time (it chimes every 1/4 and every 1hr.)

I did reposition the pendulum and the weights, but it does not work on its own.

Do I need to wind it up? I am not sure that a small crank on the face of the clock, by the moon, is for this purpose either.

Please, heeeelp

Irene

Hi Anonymous;)

Thanks for your response; the weights on this clock has the R,L,and C letters indications on the button. So, yes the heaviest weight is on the right side, but I believe the clock is not leveled correctly. I'll work on that now.

Once more, thanks

Irene

Hi. Did you make sure the heaviest weight is on the right side? Also don't for get to make sure the clock is level or it wont run.
